Barter Books is a secondhand bookstore in the historic English market town of Alnwick, with red velvety armchairs, an open fire, trundling model trains overhead, and a lovely story of the famous Keep Calm and Carry On poster. And of course, a huge collection of secondhand books on many subjects. It’s located in the old Alnwick train station. The waiting room is a small cafe, which used to have a lovely beef stew (though I couldn’t find it during our visit in summer 2015). My first ever cook book, called Pasta, was bought here. We also collected all three posters of the iconic Second World War poster series, including the Keep Calm and Carry On poster (you can find a video about the history and discovery of it on Barter Books website).
A lovely place for a day trip on a rainy day.
Sorry about my over-use of the fish-eye lens in the photos below. It was new and that was my testing trip :)
